About the CSA Blog...

Many of you just read the title of this column in confusion - what exactly IS a blog, anyway? By definition, a blog (or web log) is a website maintained by an individual or organization that allows for regular self-published commentary. In our quest to provide protection, support, and connection to CSA members, the ultimate goal of the CSA blog is to allow members to share ideas and opinions about the current and future state of the building supply industry.

The CSA Blog is a new form of social media that will allow our dealer members to interact with each other, with staff members, and with associate members/sponsors on the CSA website. Blogging is one of the most popular forms of social media, which is the integration of technology and social interaction to create or add to an existing community. This connection will particularly work well for members who are unable to travel to CSA events, but who would like to converse with other members about the building supply industry.

Currently, we are on the search for bloggers (column writers). Ideally, we hope to have four bloggers on a rotating schedule. Each blogger will be responsible for one post every four weeks on a rotating schedule to ensure each week produces a new blog entry. Blog writers are encouraged to write about any topic, as long as it pertains to the building supply industry and promotes thoughtful conversation among members. It is not necessary for bloggers to write lengthy posts – 50-100 words is fine, and bloggers are always welcome to write more.

Don’t feel like writing a full column? The CSA blog will also allow for other members to respond to posts. Blog readers will be invited to comment on each entry, with CSA having the discretion to remove any comment found to be in poor taste. Repeat offenders will be asked not to respond to posts and will have any associated IP addresses blocked from the blog site. All blog posts will be approved before being posted on the blog site.

If you are interested in contributing to this blog, please contact me (Jen Kreitzer) at
